TV Parts & Repair Categories
A quick guide to the common parts inside a television and the kinds of repairs they relate to, so you have a better idea of what might be going on before you call.
Modern TVs are made up of several key components. When one fails, it often produces a specific symptom, like no power, no picture, or sound without an image. The good news is that many of these parts can be repaired or replaced.
Below are the part categories we most commonly work with. Availability varies by brand, model, and age of the TV, and not every part can be sourced for every set. The best next step is always a diagnosis, so we can confirm exactly which part is involved and whether a repair makes sense for your TV.
Common TV Part Categories
Power Supply Board
Delivers power to the TV. A common suspect when a set won't turn on, clicks, or has standby light issues.
Main Board
The "brain" that handles inputs, smart features and processing. Linked to HDMI, app and no boot problems.
TCON Board
Controls how the picture is drawn on the panel. Often involved in distorted, doubled or scrambled images.
Backlight / LED Strips
Light up the screen. A frequent cause of a "sound but no picture" or very dim display on LED/LCD sets.
Ribbon Cables & Connectors
Carry signals between boards and the panel. Can cause lines, flicker or missing sections of the picture.
Ports & Inputs (HDMI)
Physical connections that can wear out or break over time, causing a port to stop working.
Speakers & Audio
Related to no sound, distorted sound or buzzing issues when the picture is otherwise fine.
Stands, Mounts & Remotes
The smaller pieces, broken stands, mounting hardware and remote/IR sensor problems.
The Screen Panel Itself
The display glass. A cracked or physically damaged panel is often not cost effective to replace, we'll tell you honestly.
